Mayor's Advisory Council on Disability

The Mayor’s Advisory Council on Disabilities (MACD) is an appointed council to the Mayor of Valparaiso. MACD was established to promote inclusion and empowerment of people with disabilities within the Valparaiso community and to advise the Mayor and the City Administration on issues that impact people with disabilities. The Council:

  • Provides a forum for community issues/activities affecting citizens with disabilities; 
  • Reacts through study and recommendation to issues brought to the attention of the Advisory Council by the Mayor and the community; 
  • Fosters public awareness and education of the needs and abilities of citizens with disabilities;  
  • Supports legislation and administrative process and procedures as approved by the Mayor of Valparaiso; and 
  • Supports the endeavors of the Mayor, undertaken on behalf of citizens with disabilities.

Mission/Vision 

The purpose for the MACD is to foster public awareness of disabilities and to function as a public forum for input, ideas and news pertaining to the disabled community in Valparaiso.

Meetings

The Mayor's Advisory Council on Disabilities (MACD) meets once a quarter on the third (3rd) Wednesday of the month, additional meetings as needed.
