In late 2010, the Valparaiso Police Department initiated a Prescription Drug Drop Off Program. Partnering with the DEA and the Porter County Substance Abuse Council, the department installed a drop off box in the lobby of the Valparaiso Police Department for community members to dispose of prescription drugs. The drop off box is available to community members 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
In recent years prescription drug abuse has been a huge issue, especially with high school and middle school students. Parents and grandparents should monitor the prescription drugs in their household. Once an individual has stopped taking the prescription drug, immediately safely dispose of the drug preventing teenagers or others from abusing the prescription drug. Help the prescription drug abuse problem in your community by safely disposing of your prescription drugs through the Prescription Drug Drop Off Program at the Valparaiso Police Department.
