In honor of Disability Awareness Month, the Council awards those individuals and organizations who have made a positive impact on the disabled community here in Valparaiso. The award has two different categories: Community Service Award and the Individual Achievement Award. The Community Service award is for businesses, non-profits, or government agencies. The Individual Achievement Award is for individuals. Those selected for the awards have been champions for the disabled community and actively work to improve the lives of those living with a disability. Selections will be announced at the Disability Awareness event on April 22, 2016 at Central Park Plaza. To be considered for either of the Disability Awareness Awards, you or your agency must be nominated by one or more individuals in the community. Recipients of the award will be selected by the Mayor's Advisory Council on Disabilities.
