Acceptable & Unacceptable Items

Acceptable Items:

Unfortunately, not everything is accepted for single-stream recycling pickup, so only the following should go in your recycling container:
  • Clean paper and cardboard
  • Coated cardboard beverage cartons (milk, juice, broth, soup, etc.)
  • Clean glass bottles and jars
  • Clean metal (steel, aluminum, tin) cans and jar lids
  • Clean plastic containers (including water bottles, detergent bottles, yogurt cups, and frozen dinner trays) that are labeled for recycling, numbers 1 through 7, excluding number 6/Styrofoam and plastic bags

Unacceptable Items:

The following should not be placed in your recycling container:
  • Greasy paper or cardboard, like pizza boxes, used napkins, etc.
  • Flat glass (mirrors, windows, etc.) or serving ware (drinking glasses, Pyrex, ceramics, etc.)
  • Scrap metal like wire hanger, hardware, and tomato cages.
  • Styrofoam (#6 plastics)
  • Plastic bags or film plastic
  • Plastic dinnerware
  • Any plastics that are not labeled with a recycling symbol
  • Wood
  • Garden hoses
  • Shoes
  • Blankets
