Staying Safe While Walking

Here are some things to keep in mind when walking or jogging:
  • Always wear sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher.
  • Be alert for changes in the sidewalk, such as cracks or uneven pavement, or locations where no sidewalk is present.
  • Check the forecast and stay alert for bad weather.
  • Don't wear headphones.
  • Stay inside if it is above 80 degrees and humid or below 25 degrees and windy.
  • Use caution around strange dogs.
  • Walk against traffic on the far left side of the street.
  • Warm up, cool down, and always stretch.
  • Wear bright or reflective attire when walking at night.
