Federal Funding Options

The following is a list of information on federal funding options.

Department of Commerce - Funds are available through the Economic Development Administration and Small Business Administration.
Department of Defense - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has funds available for recreation and conservation projects in conjunction with flood control improvements.
Department of Energy - Funds are currently available to assist communities in cleaning up contaminated sites.
Department of Housing and Urban Development - Community Development Block Grants are funds available for projects that benefit low-and moderate-income people.
Department of the Interior - Funding is available through the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and Bureau of Land Management.
Department of Transportation - Funds for bicycle and pedestrian trails are currently available through the Transportation Equity Act (TEA-21), including Recreational Trails Program, Bicycle Transportation and Pedestrian Walkways, and Scenic Byways Program.
Environmental Protection Agency - Funding is currently available for planning, public information, and wetland projects related to greenways.
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) - Funds are available through local flood insurance programs.
