recycling Valparaiso has been a leader in municipal recycling services for more than 15 years. The city currently has a 52% diversion rate - meaning more than half of the city’s curbside waste is diverted from the landfill and recycled.

Who should recycle? Everyone! The city encourages participation by all residents and businesses—even those with private waste service at an apartment complex or business. As long as you comply with our guidelines we will work with you to keep recyclable materials out of the landfill. Email us or call 219.462.4612 to get started.

Acceptable items include paper (newspapers, magazines, junk mail, etc.) glass, plastic, cardboard and metal containers. Read more

Any city street, curbside only. Sorry, no service for alleys or private roads.

Valpo's recycling is "single stream" meaning all accepted recyclables go in the same container--no need to separate recyclables. Use a can or bin provided by Public Works, or use your own. Let us know what works best for you.

Recycling is not only environmentally responsible. It's free, it's easy, and it saves tax dollars from being "thrown away" in landfill fees.
