The primary responsibility of the Human Resources Department is to work with and assist in the efforts of all city departments in the selection, hiring, evaluation, promotion, training, and development of city employees dedicated to serving the residents of Valparaiso.
Department staff members work hard to maintain a dedicated, professional workforce that provides quality support services to the city and the public.
The Human Resources Department works diligently in evaluating, training, and developing opportunities for employee contribution and recognition to:
- Create high morale
- Increase retention
- Provide upward mobility
- Reduce turnover
The City of Valparaiso passed an Ethics Ordinance
in September of 2006.
