Chicago Dash and South Shore Transit Connect to reinstate fare collection beginning January 2, 2021

Good Afternoon,

I hope you all have been safe and healthy for the past nine months during this COVID-19 pandemic.

As we move into the new year, Valpo Transit will reinstate fare collection on the Chicago Dash service to the Downtown Chicago loop and the South Shore Transit Connect shuttle to Dune Park station, beginning January 2, 2021. Dash one-way fare will remain at $8 each way and all 10-ride and monthly passes will also remain the same. South Shore Connect fares will remain at $1/ride, and, if you have a Dash or V-Line monthly pass, it will be accepted as well. Fares can be paid in CASH (exact amount only) on the bus or purchased through the Token Transit ticketing app on your mobile device. The ticket office at the Brown street parking lot will remain closed until further notice.

I want to reassure all of our riders that we continue to make your health and safety our priority! All Valpo Transit buses are cleaned and sanitized every night when they return from the daily routes. They are fog disinfected weekly to ensure every surface on our buses is sanitized and disinfected for any and all viruses and bacteria. Masks and hand sanitizer are available on all buses and masks are required to board all Valpo Transit service vehicles. We will continue to follow the CDC and IHS health department guidance and mandates for Indiana COVID relief designed to reduce risk.

Please help do your part and stay home if you do not feel well, wear your mask and wash your hands frequently. Do your best to remain socially distanced of at least six feet whenever possible. Stay safe and healthy for the new year.

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to all this holiday season.
