A Message from the Fire Chief

Creating Community

Welcome to the Valparaiso Fire Department. Since 1867, our mission has been to reduce loss of life and minimize property damage for the people in our growing community. In 2012, we entered a new era when the City of Valparaiso and Unincorporated Center Township combined to create the Valparaiso Fire Protection Territory.

Our department will embrace traditions, invest in technology, and challenge the status quo. We will recruit highly trained and dedicated Paramedics/Firefighters, and encourage creative thinking, along with a desire for an efficient and effective department. Today, more than 68 firefighters wear a badge that reminds them of the faith and trust that have been placed in their hands. It’s a symbol of our commitment to excellence, dating back to the personnel of the past and continuing with the personnel of tomorrow.

It takes all of us to make a difference. The men and women of the Valparaiso Fire Department are committed to providing advanced life-saving emergency medical services, fire suppression and prevention, arson investigation, and community outreach. We will strive to gain knowledge though education, and find innovative ways to improve our service.

We are committed to creating a world-class fire department, and are proud to serve the citizens of Valparaiso with efficiency, compassion, and professionalism.
