The Valparaiso City Council has announced its leadership positions and liaison appointments for the new year, naming Ellen Kapitan as City Council President and Emilie Hunt as City Council Vice President for 2025. "It's an honor and a privilege to serve in this role, and I appreciate the support. I look forward to 2025," Kapitan.
In addition to Kapitan and Hunt, who serve as at-large members of the City Council, the following members represent the city’s five districts:
District 1: Diana Reed
District 2: Robert Cotton
District 3: Barbara Domer
District 4: Jack Pupillo
District 5: Peter Anderson
In addition to their roles representing constituents, Valparaiso City Council members also serve as liaisons to City of Valparaiso boards and commissions, with the following appointments for 2025:
Plan Commission - Councilwoman Kapitan
Redevelopment Commission - Councilwoman Domer and Councilwoman Reed
Traffic and Safety - Councilwoman Kapitan
Environmental Advisory Board - Councilwoman Kapitan
Board of Works - Councilwoman Domer
Code Enforcement - Councilman Cotton
Investigation and Reconciliation - Councilman Cotton
School Board - Councilwoman Hunt
Parks - Councilwoman Reed
Utilities - Councilman Anderson
Fire Territory - Councilman Cotton (finishing Reed’s term)
Public Safety - Councilman Pupillo
