The project includes replacing roadway and water main, installing new stormwater drainage, curbs, gutters and sidewalks where none existed. “We’re very pleased to bring this positive project to the neighborhood. Certainly, improving the roadway and underground services will be welcome. But the neighbors are just as excited about the addition of sidewalks, adding walkability, safety and accessibility,” said Mayor Matt Murphy.
The project is funded largely through a $236,900 Community Crossing grant from the Indiana Department of Transportation. The water main replacement will begin the first week of May 2021 followed by the road construction beginning in early June 2021. Residents will have access to their properties during construction, which is expected to complete late summer, 2021.
Groundbreaking Event To kick off the project, the City of Valparaiso will host a groundbreaking at 4:00 pm on Thursday, April 29 at the intersection of Eisenhower Avenue and Crockett Avenue. The public and media are invited to attend.
